About Yvonne

Yvonne Ramsay was born in Albury, NSW, Australia.

Yvonne has a Diploma in Fashion Design and Dressmaking. She owned and ran a fashion manufacturing business producing haute couture ladies evening and bridal wear. In 1996, Yvonne retired from the “Rag Trade” and decided to travel the world. She has travelled extensively in Asia, Europe and the Pacific Islands.

Yvonne’s fashion design training instilled in her a love of bright colours and she maintains that the Australian landscape lends itself to these colours when creating one of her striking landscape works.

Yvonne’s representation of the Australian landscape has been heavily influenced by her many visits to the outback and Kakadu. Her latest works – depicting the sea and its many moods – are influenced by the fact that she lives at Sydney’s beautiful Northern Beaches.

The majority of Yvonne’s work is created using acrylics and inks. These media allow Yvonne to reflect the vibrant colours of the Australian Outback in her work.

Yvonne has had her work accepted to both the Warringah and Mosman Art Prizes as well as the Royal Easter Show in Sydney. Her work is represented in many Australian art galleries and NSW regional art shows.

Many of the people who purchase Yvonne’s paintings state that the work reminds them of a scene or experience that they have encountered while visiting the area depicted in the work. As a result of this, many of Yvonne’s works have been taken home to other countries – such as the USA, Great Britain, New Zealand and Denmark.
